Apsara Khajuraho reproduction sandstone
(code: SS25)
Temples all over India are covered in dancing Apsaras and Gandharvas. Those seen in this site are hand carved from sandstone by some of India’s finest sculptors, and are reproductions of temple art of northern India, most notably the temples of Khajuraho. The temples are a feast of sensuality in stone with most of the great Hindu deities surrounded by celestial nymphs such as those seen here. Eighty temples were constructed between 900 to 1100 a.d. and twenty-three remain intact today.Dimensions: 95cms
