Parvarti
Parvarti is an aspect of the divine mother of Hindu mythology, the female consort of the great god, Shiva. She is the graceful aspect of the shakti of Shiva. Parvarti’s name means “Daughter of the Mountains”; her father was Himavat, king of the mountains and she was the mother of Ganesha, the elephant god. She is often said to have produced him from rubbing her own body. With Shiva, she is often seen with another son, Kartikeya or Murugan.
It is said that the great warrior shaktis, Durga and Kali are aspects of Parvarti who emerged to combat evil and ignorance.
