Saraswati means “watery” as the sacred river of the Vedas she gives fertility and wisdom to the earth. In later times she became the creation and wife of Brahma, the creator of the universe. Sometimes identified with Vak, the goddess of eloquence Saraswati is herself the goddess of language, art and learning.
